Steve spent 21 years at American Funds as Senior Vice President before founding Families of Character. Steve and his wife Nancy have organized and developed parenting programs and talks in the Denver area over the past 15 years. He is actively involved in his community and serves on a few Boards and committees. Steve has five children and six grandchildren.

Stephanie graduated with a B.A. from Colorado State University. At CSU, she worked for the premier programming organization (ASAP) and served on numerous advisory committees. She then worked in marketing for two years before joining us in 2013. She is actively involved at her church and other young adult organizations around the Denver area. She has a little dog named Olive and is a huge Denver Broncos fan.

John is a man of faith who brings his MSM degree from Regis University and 25 years of nonprofit experience to our team. John spent 17 years working for The Salvation Army and 8 years with St. Anthony Hospitals providing guidance and leadership in programs, services, management and fundraising. He enjoys meeting people one on one to share our mission and to assist them in getting involved with Families of Character. John has been married for over 32 years and has two grown daughters and a beautiful granddaughter. When he's not at work you can find John spending time with his family, golfing, fishing or playing a trumpet. Please give him a call, he would love to meet with you.

Tom Bissmeyer is a Partner and Cofounder of iTrip.net, one of the countries leading vacation rental and property management companies. iTrip.net serves over 100 vacation destinations across North America through it’s network of local Licensees. Mr. Bissmeyer has been a public speaker on the topics of Real Estate, Finance and Personal Development for the last 20+ years and has shared events with Colin Powell, Sarah Palin, Rudy Giuliani and Barbara Bush. Mr. Bissmeyer is passionate about character formation and believes it is one of the keys to living a successful and productive live. Tom graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Finance and from the University of Cincinnati with his MBA with a concentration in Finance. Tom has been married for over 25 years and he and his wife have 2 children.
Walt Coughlin, Executive Vice President, joined Coughlin & Company in 1990 after working for four years in the Investment Banking Group of Salomon Brothers, Inc. Mr. Coughlin’s two primary areas of expertise are financing for non-profit entities and affordable housing development and financing. Mr. Coughlin is active in various community activities including Donor Alliance (the organ procurement organization and bone and tissue bank for Colorado and Wyoming) where he served as Chairman, SafeHouse Denver (a shelter for battered women) where he was Board Chairman, Mercy Housing Colorado where he served as Board President, Junior Great Books where he has been a 6th grade discussion leader for seven years, and Skyline Soccer where he has been a head coach for 12 years. Other activities include The Downtown Denver Partnership (where he served as Chairman of the Fiscal Policy Subcommittee), MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce (where he served as Vice Chairman of the Board), Colorado Municipal Bond Dealers Association (where he served as Treasurer), the Rocky Mountain Stanford Club, and Toastmasters International. Mr. Coughlin graduated from Stanford University with a degree in economics in 1984, and from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with a Masters in Management degree in 1986. Walt his wife Ellyn and two children live in Denver.
Mike Haselden is Chief Operating Officer of Haselden Construction in Centennial, Colorado. Founded in 1973, Haselden Construction is a premier regional construction management and general contracting firm consistently ranked in Engineering News Records (ENR) Top Contractors Lists. Mike is currently on several boards and charitable organizations such as Executive Committee and Past Board President, Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado, Seed of Hope Board of Trustees, and Parker Economic Development Council.
John is a Certified Public Accountant and received a BS in Accounting from Colorado State University. He was a founder, president and managing shareholder of Levine, Hughes, & Mithuen, Inc., CPA’s, until the firm merged in 2006 into Clifton Gunderson, LLP, a national CPA firm, where he is a partner in the Rocky Mountain Client Service Center. His professional specialties include business management valuation, accounting and tax consulting services for privately owned business. In 2007 John earned his Accredited Business Valuation (ABV) designation through AICPA. He successfully completed process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) to earn his designation of Certified Valuation Assistant (CVA) in 2002. In 1999, he also earned the Tax Planning and Advising for Closely Held Businesses Certificate of Educational Achievement (CEA). Additionally, John has served as a court appointed receiver, and testified in court as a receiver and as an expert witness in divorce matter, business valuations, lost earnings and tax issues. John is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), past Vice President and member of the Board of Directors and served on various CSCPA committees. Additionally he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPS) and served on various AICPS committees and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. John’s service in civic organizations includes serving as the chair, treasurer and member of the board of directors of the South Metro Chamber of Commerce, board member of The Colorado Health Foundation, Southeast Rotary Club and Southeast Denver Rotary Club Foundation, advisory boards for Citywide Banks and UMB Bank, and the boards of Castlewood Water and Sanitarian Districts. He was a former member of the Business Advisory Board for Colorado State University Accounting Department, the Professional Advisory Board for the Denver Foundation, and the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Selection Committee, and was the former Vice President and Treasurer of the South Kiwanis Club. John is active in several other church and community organization including past chairman of the Parish Council and member of the Finance and Administration Committee for All Souls Catholic Parish.
Janis Kugler is President of Facet Consulting Group. She consults with a variety of non-profit organizations, specializing in strategy and resource development. Prior to launching her consulting business, she served for 12 years with MOPS International in the areas of development, marketing, strategic planning, organizational research, learning and innovation. Prior to coming to MOPS she worked with Youth for Christ/USA and Officers’ Christian Fellowship. She also taught two years at the high school and middle school level. She has a B.S. in Business Administration/Business Education through the University of Northern Colorado and a MBA through the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a graduate of the CMA Executive Leadership Program. Speaking experience includes leading workshops for CLA and MOPS International at their annual national convention and speaking for local MOPS groups and women’s ministry events. Janis is a Colorado native, married to her high-school sweetheart, Steve, and has two daughters, one precious granddaughter and a great son-in-law. She lives in Littleton, Colorado.
Andy Limes if the Vice Chair of the Board. Andy Limes has over 25 years of experience in strategic and transactional analysis and advisory services. As a founding shareholder and an investment banking Principal at SDR Ventures, Andy works closely with clients executing mergers and acquisitions, securing equity and debt financing, implementing strategic initiatives aimed at maximizing shareholder value and generational transfers of family held businesses. Prior to forming SDR, Andy was the President and a partner in a transport refrigeration company. Andy and his partners grew this company from $9 million to $30 million in sales. Prior to this company, Andy was the CFO and shareholder of an engine, generator and transport refrigeration company with $60 million in annual sales. Andy is a member of WPO and C12. He is a board member of several portfolio companies financed by SDR. Andy is a CPA (inactive) and started his career in the tax practice of Deloitte & Touche. He is a graduate of Colorado University. Andy is from Oklahoma but has made his home in Denver since 1981. He spends much of his time with his wife and three daughters. He is an avid golfer and actively involved at Mission Hills Church where he is an Elder.
Steve is the founder of Families of Character; he spent 21 years at American Funds as Senior Vice President. American Funds is the Distribution Company for the Capital Group which is one of the oldest and largest money management organizations in the U.S., managing over $1.5 trillion for over 3 million investors, at the point of his departure. Steve and his wife Nancy have organized and developed parenting programs and talks in the Denver area over the past 15 years. They are currently in a discussion group with other couples. He is actively involved in his community, serves on a few Boards and committees. Steve and Nancy live in Greenwood Village; have five children and four grand children.
Brent is a co-founder and executive vice president of Money Line Financial Services, Inc. He also co-founded Money Line Mortgage Inc. and S & B Development which were both sold in 2001 and 2007 respectively. He serves as Chairman on the board for Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust and a Board Member of Legatus of Colorado. Brent and his wife Gina have been married for over 16 years and have two children, Olivia and Josef.
William Stigall is a pediatric cardiac critical care physician in the Congenital Heart Surgical Unit at Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas, TX. Dr. Stigall is a native Texan and graduated with a BBA in Business Honors from UT-Austin and a MD from UT-Southwestern in Dallas. He continued medical training in Dallas at UTSW/Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for residency (pediatrics), chief residency (pediatrics), fellowship (pediatric critical care), and chief fellowship (pediatric critical care). He then completed an additional fellowship year in pediatric cardiac critical care at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Phoenix, AZ prior to joining his current practice, Pediatric Cardiac Intensivists of North Texas, LLC. During residency and fellowship, Dr. Stigall was enrolled in the University of Dallas’ graduate school of philosophy and graduated with an MA with his thesis concerning the philosophical underpinnings of the children’s rights movement and the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. Dr. Stigall has been a member of multiple bioethics committees and currently teaches bioethics at the University of Dallas. Dr. Stigall and his wife, Kate, have a son, John, who is 7 years old.
ich is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Innovest Portfolio Solutions LLC. Innovest has 25 employees, and manages nearly $4 billion for retirement plans, foundations and endowments, and wealthy families. Rich has served the community as former President of Legatus of Colorado. Rich is a member of The 100 Club of Denver which provides financial support to the families of police and firefighters that are under stress. He serves on the investment committee of Regis Jesuit High School Foundation. In addition, he serves on the board of Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust, providing financial support to inner city children. Rich also coaches competitive baseball. Rich and his wife Joanie have 2 children, Alex and Reagan. Alex attends Purdue University and Reagan attends Arizona State University.
